Practice background

Brecken Health Bunbury opened in March 2008 and is solely owned by Dr Brenda Murrison. The practice occupies the entire top floor of a purpose-built medical facility we call a “one-stop shop for health”.

The Centre also houses Dental, Pathology, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Psychology and Sports Medicine services. We also have regular visiting specialists.

Brecken Health Bunbury currently has 35 GPs working a mix of full-time and part-time hours. We are a strong teaching practice for GP registrars, offering extensive in-house teaching beyond RACGP requirements, including study groups and exam preparation sessions.

Our GPs manage a broad range of presentations, including antenatal shared care, travel medicine, childhood immunisations, health assessments, vaccinations, chronic disease screening and management, mental health care plans, skin checks, wellness clinics, and other general practice services.

The practice also has a strong focus on comprehensive pre-employment medicals, meeting the needs of industry and the statutory requirements of our corporate clients. Our multidisciplinary team, GPs, an exercise physiologist, physiotherapists, nurses, a podiatrist, and audiometric officers are well equipped to deliver integrated onsite services in this area.

Our Supervisors

• Dr Brenda Murrison: Principal Supervisor and Managing Director

Dr. Brenda Murrison, Founder and Managing Director, is a passionate leader driven by the philosophy of preventative healthcare. With over 25 years of experience as a regional GP in Australia, Brenda brings a wealth of medical expertise to the table. 

Originally from a farming community and trained in Scotland, her dedication to patient well-being is unwavering. Brenda’s qualifications extend beyond the clinical realm. She holds a distinguished background in medical education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Recognising the importance of strong governance, Brenda is a Graduate and Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. 

Further broadening her horizons she completed her MBA through Ducere Global Business School. Brenda’s commitment extends to the community. She has actively served as a non-executive director for various organisations and held a position on the RACGP Council WA.

When away from the office, Brenda embraces an active life. She finds joy in spending time with her husband and  their 3 amazing kids. When the opportunity arises, she indulges in her love for skiing and exploring the beauty of the outdoors through walking adventures.

• Dr Iryna Oleshko: Additional Supervisor

Dr Iryna Oleshko graduated from Medical University in Ukraine. Dr Oleshko worked as a General Practitioner in Ukraine and Africa from 2001 and in 2010 moved permanently to Australia to continue her practice. Dr Oleshko is interested in women’s and paediatrics health, general health care and chronic disease management.

• Dr Christopher Redgment: Additional Supervisor

Dr Christopher Redgment (Topher) has worked in the UK, Africa and Asia. With qualifications including obstetrics/gynae, occupational health, family planning and emergency medicine. Dr Redgment’ s experience has ranged from IVF in London to offshore oil and gas in Borneo. For the last 12 years, he has worked in General Practice.

• Dr Jude D’Cruz: Additional Supervisor

Dr Jude D’Cruz studied at Charing Cross Hospital Medical School, University of London and qualified in 1982. Dr D’Cruz has special interests in gastroenterology, mental health and paediatrics. Dr D’ Cruz has been doing general practice in Australia now for almost ten years. Dr D’Cruz also works in the South West drug and alcohol team which he conducts a clozapine clinic and he also works in Head space for adolescent mental health services.

• Dr Paul Hyam: Additional Supervisor

Dr Paul was born and bred in Adelaide.  His medical degree was gained from Flinders University of South Australia. He worked in the major public hospitals in Adelaide for 4 years, including the Adelaide Children’s Hospital. After completing GP training he worked in a semi-rural area’s south of Adelaide for six years, then bought and ran his own practice in one of the southern suburbs of Adelaide for almost twenty-five years. Paul moved to Bunbury in 2019.  He has a special interest in men’s health, skin cancer and chronic disease management.

• Dr Alejandra Olgiati: Additional Supervisor

Dr Alejandra Olgiati graduated in 2002 from El Salvador University of Buenos Aires Argentina. Dr Olgiati has special interests in Women’s health, antenatal care ( not deliveries) and children’s health. Dr Ale is also trained in cosmetic injectables and laser treatments ( including gynaecology laser treatments).

A bit about our community of Bunbury

Bunbury is a coastal city in Western Australia, approximately 175 kilometres south of Perth, and the state’s third-largest city, with a population just behind that of Mandurah. Founded in 1836 as a port town, it has grown into a vibrant regional centre for the wider South West.

The city sits on the Leschenault Estuary and makes the most of its coastline. Koombana Beach and Koombana Park offer calm, swimmable water and hireable kayaks and paddleboards, while the Mangrove Boardwalk winds through natural wetlands right near the town centre.

Bunbury’s food and culture scene has grown well beyond the everyday. A daily farmers’ market brings genuinely local produce into town, and the surrounding area is home to craft breweries and wineries offering vineyard views and local produce. The city also holds the largest collection of street art in regional Australia, alongside the Bunbury Regional Art Gallery, which runs regular exhibitions and workshops.

For families, Bunbury offers excellent primary and high schools, both government and private, plus its own ECU campus. Add a cinema, gyms and fitness centres, sporting clubs, and kids’ playgrounds and fun parks, and the city has all the amenities of a capital, in a walkable, coastal setting.
